During the latest Elk City, City Commissioners meeting, the commission received its monthly financial report from R.S. Meacham CPAs, the firm that handles the city’s financials. Russ Meacham reported to the commission that although sales tax numbers when compared to the same time a year ago are indeed down, sales tax collections for the city was still above the million-dollar mark, which is good news.
City Treasurer Lisa Church gave the commission the latest sales, use, and cigarette tax numbers.
It was noted, that online sales that occur within the city limits, are applied to the use tax report. Church and Meacham both pointed out that online purchases that took place during the Christmas holiday season have not shown up on the use tax report yet, but they anticipate to see a spike in use tax numbers in the near future.
