A formerly convicted felon out of California has been arrested at a local hospital with a loaded pistol, found later to be stolen.
According to a story in the Clinton Daily News, the man was taken comatose from the Lucky Star Casino in the early morning hours of Saturday to AllianceHealth Clinton hospital. It was there that medical attendants allegedly found 23-year-old Joedell Robert Perkins, of Clinton, with a loaded 9-millimeter Beretta with a round chambered and 11 rounds in the magazine.
An affidavit of probable cause says a sheriff’s deputy was called to the casino for a person found unresponsive. Perkins arrived by ambulance at the hospital just before 2 am and remained comatose as the deputy removed the weapon from Perkins’ waistband and unloaded it. It had been reported stolen by a Clinton man. Perkins was also allegedly found with three pills, thought to be Xanax.
Perkins is identified as a convicted felon out of Los Angeles and has been charged locally with possession of a firearm after former felony conviction, knowingly receiving stolen property and possession of a controlled, dangerous substance, a misdemeanor.
Perkins is in the Custer County Jail with a $15-thousand dollar bond and a preliminary hearing conference set for December 6.
