A Canute man is jailed on a quarter-of-a-million dollars bond after threatening to kill two of his relatives.
26-year-old Edward Wayne Wilhite is in the Washita County Jail awaiting his next court date in September on a bond that includes no contact with the alleged victims.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, Wilhite was recently upset and pacing inside a home south of Canute on East 1170 Road. The court document says, on July 4, Wilhite began slamming doors in and out of the house, hollering that someone was going to die.
At one point, Wilhite allegedly entered the victim’s bedroom while waving a Clock pistol around. He pointed it at the victim then raised the pistol above the man’s head and fired a shot into the bedroom wall.
The victim says he was afraid that Wilhite would kill him and his wife, so he didn’t call to report the incident at the time.
It’s also alleged that Wilhite hit the female victim and threw her down.
Two days later, as the two victims were traveling in a vehicle with Wilhite, he reportedly became angry and, from the backseat, Wilhite reached over the headrest and began choking the female.
The affidavit says Wilhite has continued to threaten to kill the two victims.
A warrant was filed for Wilhite’s arrest based upon the probable cause affidavit and he’s set to appear in court on September 10 for a preliminary hearing conference.
