Southwestern Oklahoma State University is an economic engine in the southwest corner of Oklahoma that offers a good value to its students.
Randy Beutler, President of SWOSU says his university provides to the region an impact of about $140 million dollars.
Beutler, who spoke recently at the weekly meeting of an Elk City community service organization, says SWOSU’s impact on the region is generally a little higher that other regional universities in the state because SWOSU is in a more rural part of the state.
Beutler adds that the university offers the healthy economic impact while remaining affordable when compared with other similar universities in the state and nation.
He says there’s a tricky balance between being affordable while offering a quality educational product.
The economic impact study of universities in Oklahoma was prepared by the Oklahoma State Chamber Research Foundation with data from the Region Track’s 2018 report.
