A Clinton man has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to prison for multiple felonies.
41-year-old Bradley Allen Cometsevah, a previously convicted felon, was in court recently where he was sentenced to nine years in the Department of Corrections on four felonies stemming from an incident in late April of 2018.
According to the judgement and sentence, the court found that Cometsevah had four prior felony convictions and his latest sentence was enhanced. He plead guilty to possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm after former felony conviction, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Cometsevah was last arrested in Shawnee in late April and sat in the Custer County Jail ever since, meeting with his attorney on May 11. His arrest in Shawnee came as the result of a drug deal when police were called.
Earlier, in Custer County, he had been wanted for pointing a loaded firearm and threatening to kill a person in Clinton in an incident back in February. At that time, he was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon – after former conviction of two or more felonies, unlawful possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute – AFC 2 or more, two counts of possession of a firearm after former felony conviction – AFC 2 or more as well as possession of and feloniously pointing a firearm – AFC 2 or more. He was additionally charged two weeks later with threatening to perform an act of violence.
The February charges stem from an incident earlier that month at an apartment complex where he was living.
One victim told Clinton police that Cometsevah had allegedly hit her on her collar bone and threatened to kill her.
Later, when investigators searched Cometsevah’s residence, they found a loaded SKS rifle and – under a couch – a large bag containing 11.9 grams of a white substance thought by police to be methamphetamine as well as finding a black digital scale in the attic.
Cometsevah’s criminal history includes assault and battery, domestic abuse and escape from arrest/detention.
He received nine years on each conviction but his sentences will all run concurrently with each other as well as concurrent with two other Custer County charges, a Canadian County felony case as well as a felony charge in Blaine County.
