By Paragon News Director Paul Joseph –

An Elk City man has been jailed on kidnapping and domestic assault and battery, both felonies after a domestic dispute with a woman.

The investigator wrote in a probable cause affidavit that he believes 43-year-old Christopher Duane Batchelor kidnapped and assaulted the victim by unlawfully seizing her out of a Chevy Tahoe by, first, breaking out the window and pulling her from the vehicle. He then put her inside his vehicle and drove off. The detective also wrote that it was “clear and evident that the woman didn’t want to go.” Investigators found blood and blood stains on a number of items including Batchelor’s clothing. Glass particles were found in the Tahoe, on flip flops and on shoes.

The alleged victim told police at the time of the incident that Batchelor pulled her from her vehicle “like a rag doll.” She added that she doesn’t know how he pulled her out because she had originally put her seat belt on.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the detective first spoke to the victim on August 14, at which time she reported alleged abuse that had been occurring at the residence she shared with Batchelor in the 400 block of North Adams in Elk City.

He’s in the Beckham County Detention Facility on a 75-thousand dollar bond and due in court for a preliminary hearing on October 16. That’s the same day he’s due in court to appear on another felony charge from January of 2018, possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute.
