By Paragon News Director Paul Joseph –

Semis on Western Oklahoma roadways caused quite a bit of traffic congestion Thursday.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers along with workers from the Departments of Transportation and Environmental Quality were on the scene of an overturned semi in Dewey County almost all day as traffic was being rerouted around the mishap. The semi was leaking hazardous material from it’s trailer and was still on it’s side at last report.

OHP says only one vehicle was involved in the incident, the semi, that happened about a half-mile south of the State Highway 51 junction with US Highway 270. The roadway had been cleared, but traffic continued to be rerouted due to the hazardous material. No homes were evacuated, but workers continued in clean up mode at the accident that happened about 7 am Thursday morninig.

Thursday afternoon, a jack-knifed semi on Interstate 40 at the exit 80 westbound on ramp in Weatherford tied up traffic for over an hour, however, it’s been corrected and the lanes cleared. OHP says both west bound lanes had been closed due to the mishap that happened about 2:15 Thursday afternoon.

No one was injured in any of the traffic snarls.
