A female former prison guard is out of jail on bond and awaiting her next court date on a charge of sexual battery.
24-year-old Tonnie Mae Reed, from Sentinel, is believed to have performed “lewd and indecent acts” upon a prisoner in her charge at the North Fork Correctional Center.
According to a probable cause affidavit, correctional staff intercepted correspondence between Reed and an inmate. Recorded conversation between the two unveiled the possibility of the relationship that allegedly grew into a sexual nature.
When Reed was interviewed by a Department of Corrections investigator, she allegedly admitted to kissing the inmate five times and said she groped and kissed the man on the outside of his clothes.
The inmate later told investigators that the two had kissed almost every night for the past month.
Court records allege that the crimes were committed during the month of August, 2017.
Reed bonded out of jail in February on a $30-thousand dollar bond and is due back in court on the criminal felony charge on May 8 for a preliminary hearing.
If convicted, Reed could serve up to ten years in prison.
