Alfalfa producers are getting together later this week in preparation of alfalfa hay season to catch up on the latest methods, best practice procedures and disease prevention.
According to Ron Wright, Custer County’s OSU Ag Extension Agent, Extension Educators from Beckham, Custer, Roger Mills, and Washita counties are having the Alfalfa Production meeting on Thursday at the Custer County Fairgrounds.
A number of specialists will be presenting including OSU Forage Systems Extension Specialist, Alex Rocateli, who iill speak on Alfalfa Management and Variety Selection and OSU Extension Field Crop Specialist, Kelly Seuhs, will speak on Alfalfa Insect Management.
Wright says most alfalfa producers already know about the meeting and are planning on attending.
Wright says the presenters at this meet are very well versed in their respective fields, and should deliver some excellent information that will be beneficial to area producers. They will also be available to answer producer questions and to address any additional topics that arise.
There is no cost to attend the Thursday meeting located the Custer County Fairgrounds on Highway 183 South in Clinton. The program will begin at 12:00 noon with lunch, and will conclude at approximately 3:45pm.
Registration is not required, but is encouraged for an accurate meal count.
