No need to scratch your head when you see about 30 vintage Model A Ford cars rambling around Elk City this weekend.
The cars are here on purpose. Actually, they’re club members from two Oklahoma Model A car clubs, one from Tulsa and one from Oklahoma City. Plus, Elk City Convention and Visitor Bureau Director Julie Lenius says, there will be several from other clubs in other states.
Lenius says a few of the members have been wanting to come to Western Oklahoma for quite a while to look around and to especially visit the Washita National Battlefield Historic Site in Cheyenne.
Lenius says the two clubs are called the Tulsa Model A Ford Club and the other is the Sooner Model A Club from Oklahoma City.
She says she and her staff planned the groups tour of Elk City and Western Oklahoma.
Model A Fords were assembled from 1927 to 1931, so they’re old cars.
Lenius says she’s excited to host the group and is especially excited they’re staying two nights because most touring groups only stay in town one night which means twice as much sales tax and motel/hotel tax spent in and around Elk City and Western Oklahoma.
