It’s about time for farmers and other grain producers to make their way into their local FSA office in order to stay compliant with federal government programs.
Washita County’s Acting County Executive Director Cathy Johnson, is reminding Farm Service Agency (FSA) producers who haven’t yet certified their acres that the deadline to report is coming up next month.
In order to comply with FSA program eligibility requirements, all producers must visit their local FSA office to file an accurate crop certification report. Johnson says the deadline to report small grains, including winter wheat, is Tuesday, January 17, 2017.
Programs that require certification include the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP), Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP) and the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage Program (PLC).
Washita County producers may visit the FSA office located on North Glenn English in Cordell. She says most all of the FSA offices in Western Oklahoma prefer producers to call first and make an appointment that’s convenient.
She says they can do so now and don’t have to wait to closer to the January deadline.
Failure to report by the deadline or schedule an appointment by the deadline, will result in substantial late fees ($46/farm number).
