An 80-year-old Mangum man has died almost two weeks following a highway accident north of Mangum in Greer County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Kenneth Slaton died Tuesday afternoon from the injuries he received on Friday, December 2.
According to the OHP report, Slaton was traveling south on State Highway 34 in a 2000 Ford pickup when a northbound 2002 Freightliner, driven by 37-year-old Joseph Thurmond from Roosevelt, Oklahoma, swerved left, crossed the center line and hit Slaton’s pickup.
Slaton had been air transported from the scene to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was admitted in serious condition with head, leg and internal injuries.
Thurmond was uninjured in the accident.
There were no other passengers in either vehicle.
