A newly sworn in Western Oklahoma mayor brought with him renewed enthusiasm in a dormant residential housing addition, one that had failed to pick up much steam when it was first platted in 2011, but then laid dormant with no housing starts.
According to the Clinton Daily News, newly elected Clinton Mayor David Berrong blew the dust off Robinson Addition and got right to work Tuesday night after he was sworn in during a regular city council meeting. City leaders not only gave the plotted housing addition a new name, new names for each of its three streets, but also voted to approve a replat of the subdivision located on the south part of Clinton.
Once the ball got rolling with choosing the new name of the subdivision, Redland Addition, the ball seemed to stay in motion as Berrong asked his council members if they wanted to want and think about new street names until the next city council meeting. The response was, no, get it all done now. So, the council, with newly sworn in members Ward 4 councilman Bob Stewart and Don Rodolph who is continuing in his Ward 2 seat chose street names Del Rio, Rialto and Ritz.
City Manager Mark Skiles told the council that he’d been approached by a builder interested in constructing houses in Clinton, but that the builder felt the lots were currently platted with lots too small. He wanted them bigger, so the council voted, additionally, to slice them up slightly bigger.
Tuesday night, the housing addition went from 42 lots for single-family residences to 31 lots, allowing for different-sized homes to be built but still keeping the cul-de-sacs at the south end of each one.
The Clinton Daily News article also says an Ardmore builder, Lance Windel, is interested in buying 16 of the 31 remaining lots with first right of refusal to purchase the remaining 15. Skiles was quoted as saying Windel’s offer will be placed on an upcoming agenda item for the council to approve.
Prices of the lots, evidently, will be negotiated by the developer/builder, Windel.
