One person is dead, four others were sent to various hospitals after two separate accidents on Western Oklahoma roadways.
37-year-old James Robert Sander of Seiling was pronounced dead at the scene of a Saturday morning accident in Dewey County.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, Sander was southbound on US Highway 270 about 12:36 am when his 2006 Buick Lucerne went completely left of center hitting a 2014 Dodge Ram 250 pickup that was pulling a 27-foot stock trailer.
The report says the pickup rolled 1 and ½ times before coming to rest. Sander was pinned almost an hour in his vehicle.
The driver of the pickup, 37-year-old Jose Guerrero of Woodward was air transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted in stable condition. His two passengers were treated and released at Seiling Municipal Hospital.
The accident happened about four miles north of Oakwood.
It’s unknown if Sander was wearing a seatbelt, however, everyone was belted in the pickup, according to the report.
Failure to yield from a stop sign sent two people to various hospitals on Friday afternoon.
81-year-old Marvin Quattlebaum of Leedey was reported in stable condition upon arrival at OU Medical Center following the accident about 3.5 miles southwest of Leedey in Roger Mills County.
The OHP report says Quattlebaum’s 1991 Ford pickup was southbound when he failed to yield at a stop sign and hit a 2013 Honda pickup in the driver’s door. The Honda was driven by 62-year-old Vickie Broadbent, also of Leedey. She was treated and released at Great Plains Medical Center for head and arm injuries.
The report says no one was wearing seatbelts in the accident that happened about 3:09 pm, Friday on County Road N 2020 and E 0940.
