A 15-year-old Elk City juvenile male has been recuperating in an Oklahoma City hospital following a two-vehicle accident on Halloween night in Elk City.
The youth, whose name is being withheld, was a passenger in a 2002 Ford F-350 driven by another juvenile, a 17-year-old male also from Elk City. The 15-year-old was air-transported to OU Medical Center. The older youth was treated and released at Great Plains Regional Medical Center.
According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, the accident happened just before 10 pm on Falcon Road at County Road East/West 1120 in Beckham County.
The accident, that included another vehicle, a 2015 Chevy Silverado, is under investigation.
The Silverado was driven by 24-year-old Dillon Wayne Barnett of Elk City who was treated and released at Great Plains. 22-year-old Bailee Nicole Barnett, also of Elk City was additionally treated for injuries before being released. Two juvenile youths, a 5-year-old male and a 3-year-old female were not injured in the Silverado.
Both vehicles were equipped with seat belts, but they were not being worn in the Ford nor were they in the Silverado, however the two children were in child restraints.
