A Tennessee man recently arrested in Clinton has allegedly admitted to have supplied and shared methamphetamine with underage girls found with him in a motel room.

According to a story in the Clinton Daily News, 45-year-old Joseph Edward Monego of Stanton, Tennessee was arrested for distribution of a controlled dangerous substance and child neglect, both felonies.

He, a woman and the two 16-year-old girls were found in a Clinton motel room on South 10th Street allegedly using meth with hypodermic syringes when police walked in, according to one of the girls. The 24-year-old woman from Clinton, was also arrested at the time on an outstanding city warrant and was jailed. She hasn’t been charged in the incident.

Monego, who has been in Clinton for a few months, denied taking anything from the girls, including sex, in exchange for providing them with drugs saying they were too young adding that he doesn’t like to get high alone.

In an interview, he allegedly told the investigators that all he did was lay the meth down on the bed for the girls to take and get high. One of the girls allegedly admitted that Monego had helped inject her in her right arm when she had difficulty injecting herself.

Police had been tipped off to the possible drug use in the motel through a phone call who was concerned about illegal activity taking place in the motel room.

The girls were released to the custody of their families.

Monego is reportedly being held on a $50-thousand dollar bond and is due in court for a preliminary hearing on August 23.
