A 35-year-old Elk City woman is recuperating in an area hospital following a Sunday morning accident in Beckham County.
Stephanie Hayes was taken by ambulance to Great Plains Regional Medical Center following the wreck about a mile north of Elk City where she was admitted with leg injuries in stable condition.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Hayes was traveling north on Beckham County Road 2000 in a 2001 GMC Jimmy when another vehicle, a 2014 Cadillac SRX driven by 18-year-old Delanie Gilbert, also of Elk City, failed to yield after stopping at a stop sign at the intersection of CR 2000 and County Road 1090.
Gilbert was also transported to GPRMC where she was treated and released.
The accident happened about 10:15 am.
Both vehicles were equipped with seat belts and were in use.
