An extended stay hotel in Sayre is fully engulfed in flames.
It’s unknown if anyone has been hurt in the fire that is rapidly burning the WindGate Extended Stay Hotel located on Business 66 in Sayre.
The complex consists of 48 furnished units in a two-story configuration.
According to witnesses, the facility was observed to be on fire as early as 11:30 Thursday morning and, as of 12:15, is still on fire as black bellows of smoke can be seen from several miles.
Emergency responders are asking that spectators stay far away from the area to give fire and emergency responders ample area to work and care for any possible injured victims.
The WindGate Hotel, located at 701 Iowa Street, across the street from Hutches C-store and next door to Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Sayre campus, opened during the hight of the most recent oil boon around 2013.
Again, it’s unknown if there are any injuries or how it began, however, emergency crews are asking for spectators to stay far away and not to block access by emergency responders.
