A formerly convicted Weatherford man with a lengthy arrest record has been sentenced to prison after beating his pregnant girlfriend.
29-year-old Gregory Ray Thomas Jones, who pleaded guilty in Pottawatomie County in 2015 for second degree burglary, has been sentenced to three years in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.
Jones was charged with two felony domestic assault and battery charges within the same week last year. He was charged on October 29 with domestic assault and battery against a pregnant woman and four days later with domestic assault/battery resulting in great bodily harm, after former conviction.
He has multiple other charges in his past including another domestic abuse charge in 2010 in which he pleaded guilty along with placing threatening phone calls.
According to information regarding the latest charge, the victim was beaten so badly that doctors at Weatherford Regional Hospital transported her to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City as she suffered from facial fractures.
She only told police at that time that she got jumped at a barbecue by her cousin. However, two months later, she came forward to police telling them that it was her live-in boyfriend, Jones. She said that she was afraid to go to police earlier because Jones warned her to keep quiet unless she wanted Jones “to really hurt her.”
Jones’ girlfriend told authorities that he grabbed her by her hair and dragged her into the kitchen in which the couple lived in the 400 block of North Kansas in Weatherford. There, he kept his hand over her mouth while he kneed her several times in the side of her head.
The victim told police that he kept his hand over her mouth in an attempt so the neighbors couldn’t hear what was going on, however, they did and called police. After the police left following the first altercation, Jones struck her in the nose with his fist causing her to fall to the floor. The punch resulted in several facial fractures.
