A Custer County woman is recuperating in an Oklahoma City hospital with what police describe as non-life threatening injuries after being shot, allegedly by her boyfriend.
60-year-old Donald Biff Walters is in the Custer County jail on a $200-thousand dollar bond after police arrested him last week from what’s thought to be the couple’s residence following a domestic disturbance Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Clinton Daily News, the woman, 55-year-old Joyce Jones was shot once in the right shoulder with a .22-caliber pistol. The incident happened about 1 pm in the 100 block of Forrest Lane. Before being taken to the hospital, Jones allegedly told investigators that it was Walters that had pulled the trigger. At last report, she’s recuperating in an Oklahoma City hospital after being first taken to AllianceHealth Clinton.
Walters is being held in jail on two felony charges of assault and battery with means likely to produce death, after former conviction and possession of a firearm, AFC.
His preliminary hearing conference is set for December 14.
