Bond has been set at $100-thousand dollars, initially, for an Oklahoma City woman after Elk City Police received a call regarding a suspicious person at a retail store.

32-year-old Ashley Nichole Morgan is in the Beckham County Jail today and awaiting her initial appearance in court and formal charges.

According to the police report, an officer was dispatched to the store on South Main Street on Saturday night just after 8:30. When an officer arrived in the parking lot and approached the vehicle that matched the description, they observed a woman inside video-chatting with a male subject that could be seen in a prison cell.

Identified as Morgan, she told police that she was having car trouble after a visit to see her boyfriend at North Fork Correctional Center in Sayre. Dispatch informed the officer that Morgan had no warrants and no driver’s license. Morgan told police that car belonged to someone else, but they could search it.

Police allegedly found a zip lock baggie with a substance inside that later turned out to test positive for methamphetamine, 9 grams worth. Also allegedly found were multiple small plastic baggies, a sandwich box full of baggies and black electrical tape. The officer wrote in the report that items such as these are commonly used to make prison drops of contraband. Also found in the vehicle was a notebook with a picture of a male subject.

After Morgan was booked into the Elk City Jail, police were called back to the store parking lot because the store manager found an eyeglasses case thought to have been under the patrol vehicle when it was there earlier. Inside, police allegedly found three plastic baggies containing meth and a glass pipe with residue.

In an interview with police, Morgan confessed to have earlier stolen a pair of jeans from the store, ones she was wearing when she was arrested telling police she took the jeans so that she could go see her fiance.

Morgan also told police she didn’t know anything about the methamphetamine found in the vehicle, but later admitted to owning the eyeglasses case was found in the parking lot. She said that she had not made a “drop” of illegal drugs at the prison, that she was too scared to, however prison officials confirmed that they had located a cell phone and illegal narcotics in the fiance’s prison cell.

Later, police listened to one of Morgan’s recorded phone calls after she was booked into jail. A male subject stated on the recording that prison officials hadn’t located the items that she had given him adding not to worry about anything.

Morgan has been arrested for possession of a controlled, dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, drug paraphernalia and conspiracy to commit a felony.

No court date has been set.
