A Sayre man is jailed after witnesses allege both child abuse and child sexual abuse of two juveniles. The probable cause affidavit also alleges that the suspect gave the children controlled, dangerous drugs on several occasions.
51-year old Richard Vaughn Webb, Junior is in the Beckham County Detention Facility today on a $300-thousand dollar bond following his initial appearance in court last week.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the two juveniles reported the abuse to Sayre police and were then interviewed by officials with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services at the Child Advocacy Center in Sayre.
The court document says that on several occasions, Webb had allegedly touched or attempted to touch one of the juveniles. Also disclosed was that Webb had allegedly provided the two juveniles with “coke” and at other times Webb had struck the two with his hands and other weapons, according to the affidavit.
When asked to describe the “coke” given to them, the juveniles said it appeared to be small broken glass or crystals and that Webb had given it to them by smoking it from a light bulb with a hole drilled in the top, holding a lighter underneath it.
When Webb was first confronted with the allegations by a family member, Webb replied, “Why don’t you just tell them everything?” and also allegedly stated, “Yes, I did it. Call the cops. I’ll go to jail.”
When Webb was interviewed by investigators, he first became defensive and denied any involvement of the illegal activities. Later, he gave indirect answers telling officials that the juveniles were actually trying to kill him and that he feared for his life.
A search of Webb’s home reportedly turned up no illegal substances.
He’s been charged with one count of child sexual abuse, two counts of child abuse by injury and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of minors.
He’s due in Beckham County District Court for a preliminary hearing on October 22.
