A Clinton man has been bound over for formal arraignment following a knifing incident.

Bond for 34-year old Redmon Paul Ellis has been ordered to be continued by the judge when Ellis appeared in court last week. During the hearing, the court announced there was probable cause that Ellis had committed the crime of domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, after former conviction of two or more felonies.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Ellis held a knife at the throat of his child’s mother and at the time of his arrest, he was being held on bonds totaling $125-thousand-249-dollars.

Ellis was arrested in early April at a Weatherford convenience store. That’s where police found him just a few days following the alleged incident.

The mother of Ellis’ child told police she had earlier picked Ellis up in Clinton and brought him to her home so that Ellis could spend time with their child however, Ellis was reportedly intoxicated. She added that he accused her of spilling his drink and then allegedly pulled a knife on her in order to intimidate her adding that he’d kill her if she tried to run.

At some point, police believe Ellis also shoved the woman’s face into a bed.

He appeared in court last Thursday with his attorney where he waived a preliminary hearing.

In 2015, Ellis pleaded guilty to domestic assault and battery in the presence of a minor, second and subsequent felony conviction.
