A Clinton man is in good condition at an Oklahoma City hospital after he was struck by a vehicle while walking on State Highway 73 in Custer County.

28-year-old James E. Pool was first taken to AllianceHealth Clinton but later air transported to OU Medical Center arriving in stable condition with injuries to his arm and leg.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, Pool was walking westbound on the highway, in the middle of the roadway. A 2011 Ford, F-250 driven by 18-year-old Garrison B. Miller, also of Clinton, was westbound – as well – and reportedly saw the pedestrian at the last moment where he swerved to the left striking Pool with the passenger mirror.

The condition of the driver was reported to be normal and the cause of the collision is pedestrian in the roadway.

The accident happened about 6:49 pm, Sunday evening about four miles west of Clinton.

The driver, Miller, was not wearing a seat belt according to the report.
