Texas troopers remain busy patrolling Interstate 40 with the recent result of a seizure of almost $3.5 million dollars in illegal drugs traveling the interstate.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized close to 56 pounds of cocaine yesterday (Monday), after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Carson County.
At approximately 3:37 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling east on I-40 near Groom, for a minor traffic violation. The Trooper then allegedly discovered multiple plastic-wrapped blocks of cocaine inside the driver and passenger side quarter panels. The illegal drugs are worth approximately $3.44 million.
The driver, 53-year-old Pamela Ashbrook of Drain, Oregon and passenger, 70-year-old Gregory Price of Tucson, Arizona were arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
The drugs allegedly were being transported from Las Vegas headed through the Texas Panhandle and Western Oklahoma bound for Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
