Two people from Clinton have been arrested for 2nd degree burglary after police find all of the items reported stolen.

According to a probable cause affidavit, a Clinton woman called police and reported a number of items had recently been stolen from her vehicle parked in the 300 block of South 8th Street in Clinton.

She reported that the window of her 2016 Ford Expedition had been broken and her keys, Apple watch and brown leather purse had been taken from it along with a number of other items.

She additionally told police there had been a man and woman walk by the vehicle and provided the police with their description.

The next day, two people matching the description were observed walking into a nearby residence and were questioned by police.

When approached, officers observed the man was wearing an Apple watch telling police that he had purchased it from a subject in the neighborhood.

The victim arrived at the residence where the police were questioning the man and was able to use her pass-code to unlock the watch. When it opened, it displayed a picture of the woman who reported it missing.

Officers then met with two other individuals in the home, 33-year-old Mitchell McAllister and his girlfriend, 27-year-old Shelisha Rucker, the two that matched the description of those seen walking near the Expedition a day earlier.

The probable cause affidavit says McAllister and Rucker had run into the house the previous evening carrying a purse with the watch.

During a search of the home, police observed the victim’s identification cards, Social Security Card and keys under a bed. Her purse was found hidden under a pile of clothing.

They’re both in county jail on $5-thousand dollar bonds and are due in Custer County District Court for a preliminary hearing conference on October 13.
