The Weatherford Food and Resource Center, the local food pantry in Weatherford, has received a blessing in the form of a sizable grant.
The center’s director, Lori Flansburg says she recently heard the news via an E-mail sent to her that her non-profit organization will be receiving a $25-thousand dollar grant from the Wal-mart Foundation’s State Giving Program. She was pleased to say the least.
Flansburg says she had almost forgotten about the grant after having applied for it a number of weeks ago, so she was excited when she found out.
She already knows how the money will be used. It’s earmarked for food.
Flansburg says her food and resource center is vital for her community and she’s pleased Wal-mart recognizes the center’s value to the area.
She says nearly 125-thousand more meals can be served to the Western Oklahoma families that are benefited by her organization and the grant.
Wal-mart’s Foundation supports organizations by awarding grants that have long-lasting, positive impacts on local communities.
