Jury selection continued this afternoon in Cordell in the murder trial of Kathryn Lynn Hicks of Lawton.

The selection process began this morning as attorneys chose jurors for the trial that’s expected to last for the rest of the week.

The 46-year-old woman is charged with murder in the first degree – malice aforethought in the shooting death of a Cordell man in 2015.

Hick’s estranged boyfriend’s body was found in his home in the 400 block of South Orient on November 30, 2015. Mike Beach had been shot twice with a 9-millimeter gun and his 2002 Chevy Tahoe was missing.

The woman he’d introduced to friends as his girlfriend in the weeks before his death, Hicks, was also missing. According to a probable cause affidavit, the two had met through an internet service called Craig’s List.

Later on in the relationship, he’d also reportedly confided with friends that he thought at one point she had tried to kill him. Less than a week later, friends successfully encouraged him to take Hicks name off his bank and retirement accounts.

Early in November of 2015, the two seemingly had a falling out and Hicks moved out of Beach’s home, but not until Hicks had reportedly changed his will to include her.

Hicks was found four days following the murder at a residence in Oklahoma City. She’s been held in the Washita County Jail without bond ever since she was transferred back from Oklahoma City.
