A 13-year-old Western Oklahoma girl is recuperating in an Oklahoma City hospital following an ATV accident.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the young teenager from Headrick in Jackson County was driving a 2013 Honda Rancher ATV and had just left private property and turned onto a county road. The report says she attempted to make a U-turn while making an evasive maneuver to avoid hitting an animal causing the vehicle to roll over.
The girl jumped from the vehicle and landed with force on rock and gravel.
She was taken by a private vehicle to Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus where she was then transported by ambulance to OU Children’s Hospital where she arrived in stable condition with internal injuries.
The accident happened just after 8 Thursday night on Jackson County Road 166 about two-and-a-half miles southeast of Headrick.
