Several tornadoes caused hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage in Washita County Thursday afternoon as another round of severe weather hit Western Oklahoma. There were no reported injuries.
Washita County Emergency Management Director Sandy Settles has been traveling throughout the county in his vehicle ever since the bad weather struck. He’s not been able to travel each county road, yet.
As for the county seat, Settles says Cordell witnessed a couple tornadoes as well and lost a number of businesses, too.
Settles says many homes still don’t have power. Some residences that do have power, it’ll probable have to be shut off so that more repairs can be made.
Settles says the Washita County Commissioners are also out driving the county roads and checking on the condition of roads and bridges and making note which need repair.
He says he’ll continue to drive the county roadways over the weekend checking on rural residences that received damage.
He reminded county residents that crews are working as quickly as possible to make repairs.
