A Bessie man has been jailed twice in one day – the second time on a felony.

34-year-old Michael Lee Martin bonded out of the Washita County Jail last week on a $20-thousand-dollar surety bond and is awaiting his next court date.

According to Cordell Police, Martin had been arrested by deputies on Wednesday, March 22 for driving under suspension and bonded out the next day – on Thursday. A few hours later, around 9:20 p.m., he was arrested on a complaint of   driving under suspension, but this time was also arrested for transporting an open container of liquor.

Police observed Martin sitting inside his vehicle, a 2002 GMC Yukon, in the middle of 12th Street, just east of Grant in Cordell.

When asked for his identification, police allegedly observed a bottle of whiskey stuck between the front seats of his vehicle.

During the inventory of the Yukon, officers allegedly found an unloaded Winchester 12-guage shotgun, a small black case containing a glass pipe with white residue and a small, clear plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance that later field tested positive for Methamphetamine.

He’s been charged with possession of meth, a felony, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and an open container violation.

He bonded out of jail last Thursday and is due back in district court on May 23.
