Felony charges are expected against three Elk City area juvenile males following an early morning vandalism and spray painting spree.

A Monday afternoon tip to Elk City Police led to the three being detained and questioned by both the police and investigators with the Beckham County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Derrick Manning says the 1-hour vandalism spree – that began sometime around 3 am on Monday morninghappened both inside and outside of the city limits.

According to Manning, the group of three, possible four, juveniles ranging in age from 16 to 17 – in an act of retaliation against another juvenile male – spray painted his vehicle causing what the Sheriff calls several thousand dollars in damage. But, he says, they didn’t stop there.  They hit houses and other vehicles.

In all, Manning says, about $10-thousand dollars in damage occurred between 3 am and 4 am.

The three were questioned and the Sheriff says they admitted to the vandalism spree. They were released to the custody of their parents.

No arrests have been made as of yet and Manning says one more individual may have been involved. That person could be charged as the investigation continues.

If charged by the District Attorney’s office, they’ll be facing a felony of malicious damage to property based upon the amount of damage that was done.
