A missing Clinton girl has been found safe in Erick with her mother.
16-year-old Layken Thompson was found by Erick police approximately 2:30 Monday afternoon, according to a Clinton Police Department spokesman.
Detective Captain Mike Murley says the girl is safe and was with her mother adding that he’s not spoken to either the girl or the mother as of yet, but confirmed she was unharmed and had run to from her father – who’d last week reported her missing – to her mother.
According to a story in the Clinton Daily News, Jeffery Thompson called police and reported her as missing saying she’d run away about 3 pm on Saturday, November 12.
Police had contacted the Clinton Daily News with the report hoping that the information would provide tips on where she might be.
The Clinton police officer who took the missing person report from Thompson said in a report that he’d been dispatched to a Clinton motel on Monday evening about 5 in reference to the missing girl and met with Robinson who said his daughter had run away two days earlier. The report quoted the father as saying that the daughter had walked outside of a motel room with a female friend and never returned and that later, he’d heard from other people that Layken was in Weatherford with an individual named Jeremy with no known last name.
Neither Jeffery Thompson nor police were ever able to confirm that information.
Captain Murley says the case will now be turned over to juvenile services and isn’t sure if any charges will be filed in the case.
