Smoke from a fire in Harper County, Oklahoma appears to be of concern to a number of travelers along I-40.
Concern that a fire was out of control near Foss, Oklahoma has prompted inquiries from travelers along the interstate, but calls to local fire officials indicate the smoke, ushered southward due to strong winds, is coming from two large fires in the county north and west of Woodward.
No fires have been reported near Foss this afternoon.
An official with the Harper County Sheriff’s office says the first large fire was reported east of Rosston, Oklahoma and as that was being bought under control, another broke out east of Laverne, both in Harper County, just south of the Kansas line.
At least seven units have been on the scene of the two fires that are now both under control.
There have been no injuries.
