Clinton Police are searching for individuals wanted in two separate robberies in the Clinton area.
Two area businesses were robbed Monday about 14-hours apart and authorities say there’s is no indication at this time the robberies are related.
According to the Clinton Daily News, the only lead Police have in the first robbery is that the robber was a man wearing a dark-colored hoodie who had a “country accent and a raspy voice.”
The victim, a female employee of the Family Dollar Store in the 1400 block of Gary Boulevard, says she didn’t get a good look at him because he came up from behind her as she was approaching her car around 6:15 am, Monday morning. She told police that she was getting into her car to go to the bank to make a deposit from the day before and that her only description of him came from a reflection in her car’s window.
He walked up behind her, told her not to move and demanded the money bag she had in her hand. The robber then ran off on foot before she could turn around.
The second robbery occurred about 8:30 Monday night when two men, probably in their 20’s, walked inside a liquor store in the 1900 block of Gary Boulevard and demanded money from the cash register. The owner, who had the cash register drawer open as she and her daughter were counting the day’s receipts, says the two ran out the door and fled south.
The victim added that she could see that one held a chrome handgun while the other demanded money.
According to police, the one with the gun was about 6-feet tall, had a white cloth over his face while wearing a long-sleeve, black shirt and dark pants.
The other robber was about 5-foot-6 or 5-foot-7 inches tall, also wore dark pants and had a black ski mask over his face.
Clinton Police spokesman Detective Captain Mike Murley says investigators searched the area Monday night and all day Tuesday and were to receive surveillance video from multiple locations in the area to develop further leads.
Police are not releasing the estimated amount of cash taken in either robbery.
