A Sayre man has been arrested by Elk City police on a Beckham County warrant for domestic abuse and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
The man, 58-year-old Billy Fenton Goode is in the county detention facility on a $10-thousand dollar bond.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Goode was initially arrested following an incident in May in Sayre when officers were dispatched just after 10 pm to a home in the 400 block of West Cedar in Sayre after Goode told a woman at the residence he was going to an acquaintance’s home and kill him. The woman told police that he was armed with a knife.
The officers found Goode walking west on Cedar Street yelling. As they were approaching him, they observed Goode fall, face first, into a bush. He was arrested for public intoxication.
After an investigation, it was found that Goode had earlier fought with the woman, allegedly threatened to kill her and burn the house down. He’d grabbed her, repeatedly, trying to start a physical fight. The third time, he allegedly managed to pull a knife and stuck it to her throat threatening to kill her again.
Later he went to a bird cage, grabbed a cockatiel and killed it by popping off its head. Right after that, he took the knife and left the house saying he was going to kill someone.
Besides domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and public intoxication, he’s been charged with animal cruelty.
He’s due back in Beckham County District Court this week for a competency hearing.
