The Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s office has made a positive identification on human remains found two months ago in nearby Blaine County.  Law enforcement has been searching for the deceased victim ever since an earlier homicide.

The remains are of 23-year-old Christopher Blake Scruggs, a suspect in a homicide last year near Canton. His remains were found on June 13, 2016, also near Canton when a farmer spraying his field found a human skull and called the Blaine County Sheriff’s office.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation special agents went to the scene and with the help of deputies and other searching the area more remains were discovered.

OSBI special agents and other law enforcement in Blaine County have been searching for Scruggs – who was wanted on a murder warrant – since a homicide on October 25, 2015 when Caylee Massey was found murdered.

The 18-year-old Massey was believed to have been riding in a truck headed to Canton from Oklahoma City when she was shot in the head. The driver of the truck pulled to the side of the road and Scruggs, a passenger in the truck, reportedly fled the scene.

The medical examiner says it could take several months to determine a cause/manner of death for Scruggs, however OSBI special agents continue to investigate Massey’s murder.
