An Elk City man was arrested recently and charged with five felony counts of identity theft after attempting to obtain credit cards in his father’s name.

Police were made aware of the fraudulent activity by the suspect’s father.

According to the probable cause affidavit Elk City Police were contacted by the father about the suspected crime on August 1. The man would tell an Elk City detective that he had a recording of his son, 33-year-old Jeffrey Paul Walker, admitting to stealing his personal identifying information from inside his home and using that information to obtain the credit cards.

Authorities were provided the recording along with credit card statements that the defendant applied to.

The father would tell detectives that he suspected the suspect began the process of stealing the identity between July 6 – 8 while the man was gone on a trip.

Walker was later located and arrested.

Bond was set at $10,000. His next court date is scheduled for September 12.
