After a round of spring-like storms Tuesday night, the weather looks to shift to a more traditional winter weather event Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Norman, the main winter weather impacts for the area will occur Thursday night and should wrap up Friday morning.
Meteorologists expect freezing rain and snow are expected during the storm with some locations in western Oklahoma possibly receiving six inches of snow.
KOCO Meteorologist Jonathan Conder says before the snow comes into the area, ice and freezing rain could move in New Years Eve, which could affect power and travel conditions.
The National Weather Service has issued a 24 hour winter storm watch for area counties including Beckham, Roger Mills, Custer and Washita that will go into affect Thursday at noon, although, according to Conder, the watch could change to an advisory or a warning based on the severity of the storm.
