A previously convicted felon is being sent back to the Department of Corrections, this time for the rape of a 15-year-old girl.
38-year-old Christopher Stephen Myers of Clinton was recently sentenced in Custer County District Court to 8 years in the Department of Corrections.
Myers has two previous convictions out of Grady County and both in 2000. One was for possession of a controlled, dangerous substance and the other for attempt to escape.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Myers was arrested after the girl told her mother of the alleged encounter earlier that night saying she had consensual sex with a man in the back seat of a car on the K-Mart parking lot. It’s believed to have occurred around 10 pm on November 4.
The girl also told investigators that she and Myers then drove to an apartment complex where they had sex, again, but she couldn’t say where the apartment was located.
The girl had left her home on her own and was missing for some time. When she returned, she admitted to having consensual sex. Her mother then took her to AllianceHealth Clinton where hospital officials notified police.
The court document says the girl identified the suspect and Clinton Police picked up Myers at his home in the 500 block of South Ninth Street in the early morning hours on November 5, only hours after the rape.
Even though the sex was said to have been consensual, it’s a crime for an adult to have sexual relations with someone underage.
Myers pleaded guilty to a charge of Forcible Sodomy – Victim under 16 years, after former conviction of 2 or more felonies and to second degree rape.
District Judge Doug Haught sentenced Myers – on both charges – to 20 years to serve in the DOC with all except the first eight years suspended with the two terms to run concurrently.
