Texas troopers have recently conducted two more large seizures of drugs on the I-40 Interstate.
A Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper seized about a million-dollars of drugs Sunday, May 22 along the interstate and then another drug seizure six days later (last Saturday) (May 28) in another million-dollar bust.
22-year-old Angel Pasaye of Los Angeles, California is in the Carson County Jail charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
Just after noon on May 22, a DPS trooper stopped Pasaye’s 2005 Kia Rio traveling east on I-40 near Conway, for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, the trooper allegedly discovered several tape-wrapped bundles of methamphetamine inside the spare tire.
The almost 12 pounds of methamphetamine was allegedly being transported from Los Angeles to Tulsa.
Around 6:30 am on May 28, a trooper stopped a 2013 Volkswagen Beetle in the same area along the interstate and allegedly discovered several tape-wrapped packages of cocaine inside the rear quarter panels of the vehicle. The cocaine was value-estimated at $950-thousand dollars.
The driver, 23-year-old Katia Camargo-Reyes and passengers, 21-year-old Francisco Hernandez-Salazar and 32-year-old Issachar Hernandez-Zamorano – all from Mexico – were arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
The drugs were bound to Baltimore from Los Angeles.
