Oklahoma City, Okla. (May 8, 2020) – The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) published its third expanded weekly epidemiology and surveillance report on COVID-19, highlighting today the continued downward trend in the percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in relation to overall testing being conducted in Oklahoma.

The chart below shows the downward trajectory of positive tests as a percentage of total tests within a 14-day period (flat or increasing volume of tests).

We are pleased to spotlight the data reflecting Oklahoma’s continued success in flattening the curve,” said Interim State Epidemiologist Aaron Wendelboe. “The more testing we do, the more confidence we have in our data. We are relying on Oklahomans to get tested for COVID-19 now that we have plenty of testing capability.”

As of Thursday, the Governor’s Executive Order Report on COVID-19 will also publish a daily percentage of positive tests and the specimen counts used to calculate the percentage. This additional reporting delivers transparency in the progress Oklahoma is making to adhere to the Trump administration’s four gates to guide a state in reopening its economy.
