Altus Police arrested six people Thursday afternoon, on charges of violation of the governors executive order and obtaining money or merchandise under false pretenses.

According to officials, the arrests are in connection with “door to door solicitations” in which the suspects requested monetary donations be made to a fictitious organization on behalf of COVID-19 relief.

Altus Police located, identified, and arrested 20-year-old Terri Roseburgh, 22-year-old Kassidy Stiffer, 19-year-old Nicole Akins, 27-year-old Gregory Robinson, 24-year-old Horace Slaughter, and 30-year-old Jourdan Thomas.

Police first reported of the scammers last week, saying the suspects claimed to be working on behalf of the “Literacy Outreach” company based in Comanche and Jackson Counties, and that Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt was aware of their mission.

The Altus Police Department is requesting anyone who may have made a donation to these individuals, to contact the non-emergency number at 580-482-4121. Officials are also requesting anyone that may have doorbell camera or surveillance footage, to also contact the police department.

Police also encourage anyone who made a check donation to contact their local financial institution to have the check canceled.
