By Paragon News Director Paul Joseph –

A recent school threat allegedly made by a Clinton elementary school student kept Clinton educators and police busy.

The threat was immediately investigated and Police took little time to confirm the identity of the 12-year-old suspect and determined there was no real danger.

According to a story in the Clinton Daily News, the alleged threat was made last week by a sixth-grade student at Washington Elementary School. Clinton Detective Captain Ray Hammons later said that the suspect had no means of carrying the threat out, however.

It was reported to police in the evening of Monday, November 18, by the parent of another student. The woman reported that her son had been told by another student not to go to school the next day because there was going to be a shooting.

During the investigation, no weapons were found in the home of the suspect nor anything the preteen could have used to carry out the threat.

According to Hammans, the school was notified immediately and within the hour, the suspected student was identified. School administrators are handling the situation internally regarding possible disciplinary action with the student.

The Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs was notified and the case has been referred to the District Attorney’s office.

The name of the 12-year-old is not being released.
