A Beckham County couple has entered pleas with the District Court regarding felony drug charges.

19-year-old Sean Allen Pruitt of Elk City pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and one count of possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony and has received a suspended sentence and will receive his sentence in October of 2026.

The woman with which Pruitt was arrested, 35-year-old Catrina Renee Crotts, recently pleaded no contest and has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the same two drug charges as well as driving with a suspended license.

Until Pruitt is sentenced in 7 years, he’s to receive substance abuse counseling, perform 120 hours of community service and pay assessments and fines.

The two were pulled over in September of 2018 in a vehicle with what appeared to be a burned out headlamp. Just after 1 am that morning, an officer on patrol observed the vehicle speed up while the patrol unit followed.

Once stopped, police quickly identified the pair as a result of previous run-ins with the law. The patrolman wrote in the report that he’s very familiar with Crotts and Pruitt and that Pruitt is considered to be heavily involved in drug activity and to often carry a hand gun.

While speaking to the driver, Crotts, the officer allegedly observed a syringe containing blood with suspected methamphetamine sitting on the instrument panel above the steering wheel, referring to it as a blood shot.

Also allegedly observed was a glass meth smoking pipe on the driver’s seat. A magazine-loaded hand gun was allegedly located on the passenger’s side where Pruitt had been sitting.

While conducting a search of the vehicle, police say numerous items of evidence were allegedly found showing the possession of illegal drugs including meth and marijuana, digital scales, baggies, packaging material and paraphernalia items.

Crotts was additionally sentenced to another 10 years for different felony from this year, conspiracy, but will serve the sentence concurrently with the first sentence.
