A third person has been charged in connection with an incident where two men were allegedly kidnapped, robbed, and assaulted in Clinton.
22-year-old Marquiz Dajion Simpkins of Clinton was arrested and charged earlier this month with two counts of conspiracy after his alleged involvement in the incident.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Simpkins allegedly called one of the victims and instructed him to meet Simpkins at a nearby business in Clinton. After arriving to the business, the suspect was not there, however he was eventually confronted by 30-year-old Airick William Fuller, and 26-year-old Johnny Oneal Brooks of Clinton who instructed the two men to get into the vehicle they were driving. The affidavit reported that the victims were threatened with a firearm, driven to a separate location where they were assaulted, and eventually robbed. Since the attack, one man told authorities that his life has been threatened. Police believe Brooks video recorded the incident and could be heard in the background making statements.
Police say the video showed the two men had sustained injuries consistent with being assaulted.
Brooks, who is in jail, is due in court on November 8th for a preliminary hearing conference. A warrant has been issued for Fuller. He’s wanted on a $500,000 dollar bond.
Simpkins was arrested last week and charged with two counts of conspiracy. He is currently still in the Custer County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing conference for Simpkins has been scheduled for November 22nd.
