Once again, the Weatherford Environment Group is hosting a major recycling event.
In coordination with Earth Day 2019, the group is organizing their event to be held on Saturday, April 27 at the Weatherford Recycling Center.
The motto of their fledgling group and its purpose is “green, clean and beautiful.”
Faye Henson is one of the volunteers with the group. She says one doesn’t have to be a Weatherford citizen to take advantage of the recycling event.
There are only certain items, however, that they’ll accept during the event that include large metal items and appliances, even non-working electronic items and, in fact, they’ll accept old TVs or computer monitors with a $5-dollar donation.
Besides those items, they’ll take fluorescent light bulbs, LED light bulbs, lead acid type batteries, household batteries and phone books.
Henson says the event will run from 9 am to 3 pm. The center is at the corner of Illinois and Clark Streets in Weatherford, that’s 2 blocks south of Main Street on Illinois.
She says Earth Day is Monday, the 22nd and her group is participating in it through the recycling effort on Saturday the 29th, adding that their effort is part of the Keep America Beautiful program.
Henson says for those who may have questions, they could call her at 772-5984.
