By Paragon News Director Paul Joseph –

The Wheeler community is planning a big blow-out fundraiser this Saturday for one of it’s own.

The Wheeler Volunteer Fire Department Wives and High School Class of 2019 is hosting the Kalli-Strong Benefit in Wheeler at the AgriLife Center for Makalli Marshall, a prospective heart transplant patient. MaKalli is on the list to receive a new heart.

Joy Wilson is the president of the organization and says the Wheeler community always tries to surround those in need and those with medical issues.

MaKalli is the daughter of Mack and Crystal Marshall and Heather and JoeBob Kinnaman. MaKalli is a senior at Wheeler ISD and has participated in a number of school and youth organizations including FFA and band.

The 17-year-old was diagnosed with thickening of the wall in her heart in 2017 and began suffering with heart failure symptoms earlier this year placing her on the transplant list.

Wilson says Saturday’s big event runs from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.

Wilson says MaKalli plans on attending SWOSU and enrolling in the radiology program and later receive her doctorate in pediatric care.

A donation account is set up at Wheeler Banking Center in care of MaKalli’s grandmother, Maggie Marshall.
