By Paragon News Director Paul Joseph –

Reduced-cost eye care is available in Western Oklahoma to those that meet the requirements.

According to Tangela Henry, who is in charge of SWODA’s Information and Assistance for the various programs at the organization, reduced-cost eye exams and eyeglasses are available again. It’s one of South Western Oklahoma Development Authority’s programs to benefit regional residents.

She says the program is through SWODA’s Aging Services as the authority helps make possible care for those that can’t afford treatment. She says its an ongoing program that usually begins each year around September 1 and runs through May 31.

She says its for Western Oklahoma residents in the seven county area of Beckham, Custer, Greer, Harmon, Jackson, Kiowa, Roger Mills and Washita Counties.

She says it’s an easy process.

Henry says residents that are elderly and/or are a disabled “Advantage” applicant, can’t already be case managed by any other agency other than SWODA’s Aging Case Management.

Henry says she and SWODA are grateful to the regional optometrists who have been working together to help find solutions to problems and concerns of the aging and disabled in the Western Oklahoma area.
