Voters go to the polls on Tuesday for the August 28 Primary Election Runoff. Roger Mills County Election Board Secretary Jana Maddux says there are a couple important tips to keep in mind for Tuesday.

Early election was held Thursday and Friday and (will be held again on) Saturday at the voters County Election Board office where the voter resides. (from 9 am to 2 pm on Saturday)

Beckham County Election Board Secretary Alex Joseph says anyone who needs to look up their polling place, verify their registration information or view a sample ballot can do so online. The Online Voter Tool can be assessed on the Oklahoma State Election Board’s website.

Those who vote by mail can also check the status of their ballot using the same online tool. Sample ballots are also available at the voters County Election Board office.

And Maddux reminds voters that Oklahoma law requires every voter who votes in person at the precinct polling place or during early voting must show proof of identity before receiving a ballot – either a valid photo ID issued by a governmental entity, a voter identification card or sign an affidavit and vote on a provisional ballot which will be verified against voter registration records and then counted on Election Day.

Finally, Joseph says voters who have moved since the last election, but who have not transferred their voter registration to their new address may do so on Election Day by going to vote at the polling place where their registration has been in the past. While voting, they may then fill out a form instructing the County Election Board to transfer their registration to their new address before the next election.

Polls are open from 7 am to 7 pm on Tuesday and lines are possible at peak voting times with the shortest lines during mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Anyone in line to vote at 7 pm will be allowed to cast a ballot.
